DAY 1: Getting Started with Premiere Pro
Goal: Understand the interface, organize media, and start editing confidently.
✅ Introduction to Premiere Pro & industry use cases
✅ Setting up a new project: scratch disks, sequence settings, frame rates
✅ Organizing media: best practices for folders, bins, labels, and naming conventions
✅ Importing footage, audio, and images
✅ Source Monitor vs. Timeline: understanding how edits are made
✅ Basic editing tools: Razor, Selection, Ripple Edit, Slip/Slide
✅ Creating your first edit: rough assembly using drag-and-drop and overwrite/insert
techniques
✅ Adding audio and simple transitions
✅ Exporting your first cut: basic export settings and file formats
📂 Assignment: Organize and edit a 30-second scene using the provided footage
DAY 2: Building Structure and Working with Sound & Titles
Goal: Gain confidence in assembling short scenes and understanding the foundations of
sound and visual polish.
✅ Building continuity: J-cuts, L-cuts, and basic pacing techniques
✅ Working with sound: levels, balance, and audio track types
✅ Adding music and ambient sound for tone
✅ Titles and lower thirds: how to add and customize text
✅ Using markers and color labels for workflow
✅ Understanding sequences and timelines (for social, YouTube, and film)
✅ Reviewing export settings in detail (H.264, ProRes, presets)
✅ Troubleshooting common beginner mistakes
✅ Quick intro to keyboard shortcuts and creating a custom workspace
📂 Final Project: Edit a 60–90 second sequence with dialogue, music, and titles.
